On February 28, the results of the International Competition "People - Language - Culture", organized by the Center for Russian Studies and International Education of the Institute for Professional Development of IvSU, were summed up at the "Boiling Point - IvSU". This event was dedicated to Mother Language Day.
This holiday was proclaimed at the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999 and has been celebrated on February 21 throughout the world since 2000 in order to preserve linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The date was chosen to commemorate the events of February 21, 1952, when students demonstrating in defense of their native Bengali language were killed by police bullets in Dhaka, the capital of present-day Bangladesh. The protesters demanded that it be recognized as one of the state languages of the country.
This year, IvSU organized the competition "People - Language - Culture" in order for schoolchildren and students to be able to talk about the features of their native language, to identify the close connection between the history of their people, language and culture. For several weeks, guys from different countries have been preparing their linguistic and linguoculturological research.
