Africa is closer than you think!

On May 26, a concert dedicated to the Day of Africa was held in the Ivanovo House of Nationalities, in which foreign students from IvSU, ISPU, ISMA and ISPTU took part.

The event was organized by the Association of Foreign Students of Ivanovo, represented by the chairman of the association, Kukubu Avimael Jafe, and the deputy chairman, Zob Bayin, Sharel Ledrish. The concert was led by IvSU students (bachelor's degree, department "Native Philology") Yaslar Ana and Wando Ngokaba Frank.

Elena Borisovna Ershova, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Center for Russian Studies and International Education, addressed the students with a welcoming speech. “We say Africa Day, but we celebrate African Unity Day. Representatives of different countries have come together here, and there are no contradictions. I want to wish the whole world to be united”, she said. Congratulations were also expressed by representatives of other universities.

Close to every student and teacher who survived the pandemic, the stories were reflected in the humorous play "Theatre", dedicated to the modern system of distance learning. At the end of the performance, Azu Gracia Sonevi, who brilliantly played the role of a long-suffering teacher of cultural studies, appealed to the audience with an appeal to attend classes and study, because “we didn’t come here in vain: we need knowledge.”

Numerous incendiary songs and dances delighted and delighted the audience, demonstrating the true African temperament of the performers and warmly supported by the audience. Students from the Congo danced "Ndombolo" with elements of modern street dance.
