On July 2 IvSU Academic Council of IvSU unanimously elected William Bowring (Birkbeck, University of London) and Bjarne Melkevik (Laval University) Honorary Professors of Ivanovo State University. Both professors were nominated by Associate Professor of IvSU Evgeny Potseluev.
Both professors are widely known for their research in many countries, including Russia. Both give reports at IvSU scientific conferences (organized annually in September - October by Associate Professor Evgeny Potseluev). Both colleagues intend to continue scientific cooperation with the Faculty of Law of our university: to participate in new conferences and lecture to law students.
Bill Bowring (William SB Bowring (Bill)) - Professor of Law at Birbeck College, University of London (UK), Director of the Master's Program in Human Rights, participant of international scientific conferences in St. Petersburg, Ivanovo, Manchester, etc .; author of scientific papers on international law, human rights, the law of the Council of Europe, Russian law, philosophy of law, etc. One of the developers of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, a former expert of the Council of Europe, the European Union, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the World Bank, etc.

Bjarne Melkevik – doctor of Law at Panthéon-Assas University (Paris II, dissertation defense), professor, titular professor at the University of Laval, a world renowned legal philosopher, eminent specialist in the field of legal theory, legal epistemology, philosophy of law, logic and legal argumentation; participant of many Canadian and international grant projects. Since 2005 he has been editor-in-chief of the Inter-Sophia book collection at Laval University Press; since 2000 - co-editor of the DIKE book collection at the same publishing house. B. Melkevik is the author of over 200 publications on theory and philosophy of law, international and constitutional law. His works were published in Canada, Norway, France, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries. In Russian, his scientific papers have been published since 2008, and books - since 2015.
