On April, 18-23 Moscow Model of United Nations named after Vitaliy Churkin took place offline in Moscow. This year this prestigious event for International Relations students gathered around 700 delegates from Russia and many other countries. At the conference our university was represented by students of Institute for Humanities (International Relations program) – Aleksandr Varzin and Kristina Terent’eva. The conference held 13 UN committees moderated in Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Arabian and Chinese languages.
After a thorough selection and interview our students were assigned to General Assembly and Ecology Committee. Participants – delegates, observers, chairpersons and experts – assume roles of official representatives of UN countries and international organizations coming to the conference to discuss the agenda. At the Model delegates are supposed not to present their personal opinions but official positions of the countries they are assumed. The aim of each committee is to take a resolution on the point in the agenda.
Students not only worked but also had a great chance to meet people of different cultures during informal communication and made friends with them. The traditional ball became was the most prominent and long-awaited event in the frames of the Model. Everybody became closer and got a great amount of bright impressions at that unforgettable evening.
Participation at such events always gives our students unique experience. They can perfect their elocutionary and diplomacy skills, learn to listen and be listened. Moreover, they understand that they’ve chosen the right career way and become ready to develop themselves in this sphere.
