Meeting of the Council under the Governor of the Ivanovo region on the harmonization of interethnic relations

On March 17, 2021, the Ivanovo House of Nationalities hosted a meeting of the Council under the Governor of the Ivanovo region for the harmonization of interethnic relations. It was conducted by the Deputy Chairman of the regional Government Yevgeny Nesterov. The meeting was attended by Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Personnel Management of IvSU Tatyana Belova, who is a member of this Council.

Head of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Ivanovo Region Varvara Pavlova informed about the changes in the migration legislation of the Russian Federation. Deputy Head of the territorial body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Ivanovo region (Ivanovostat) Tatyana Belova spoke about the preparations for the All-Russian Population Census in the region and stressed the importance of the participation of national-cultural associations and ethnic diasporas in it.

Director of the Ivanovo House of Nationalities Nikolay Karika analyzed the status of work in ethnic communities and national-cultural associations on the adaptation and integration of their members into the social and socio-cultural environment of the host society. Nikolay Karika discussed the issues of preventing the spread of extremism and xenophobia among foreign citizens staying in the territory of the Ivanovo region, including young students, as well as on the organization of comprehensive work with migrant families. He said that in 2020 in the Ivanovo region with the support, including of the House of Nationalities, an educational project "To Russia – with Hope!" was implemented at the expense of the Presidential Grants Fund, the purpose of which is to give children and their parents a solid knowledge of Russian language, history, customs and traditions of the Russian people. More than 50 migrant families took part in it.

Chairman of the regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Russia "We are Russians" Elvin Mammadov and Chairman of the regional public organization of Armenian-Russian cooperation "ArmRuss" Albert Gevorgyan discussed the need to strengthen work with young people in the implementation of state ethnic policy in the Ivanovo region. T. Belova suggested that students of IvSU be more actively involved in this activity.
