Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova visited IvSU

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, is in the Ivanovo region on a working visit . On September 1, she visited IVSU and in the assembly hall of the 1st academic building met with participants in the youth legal forum “Legal Knowledge: Initiatives, Practices and Experience.” The event was attended by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Ivanovo region Svetlana Shmeleva, in the Yaroslavl region - Sergey Baburkin , in the Kaluga region - Yuri Zelnikov , as well as students from various universities in our city, lawyers, notaries, lawyers, human rights activists, teachers.

Opening the meeting, IvSU Rector Alexey Malygin emphasized not only the state status of our guest, but also - which is especially symbolic on the Day of Knowledge - Tatyana Nikolaevna has two doctorate degrees (in law and philosophy). And he immediately asked our guest, of course, an important question for the students present, what should be the motivation for such large-scale scientific achievements. After all, the “case” of a person who effectively combines service to the Fatherland in a high government position and a significant contribution to science is extremely significant as an instructive example.

Tatyana Nikolaevna noted the originality of the question and spoke about her professional and scientific path, outlining the main internal “beacon” of her quest - the theme of honor and dignity of a person, respect for him, and primarily in those areas of life where they are infringed and under threat. This is how service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the themes of the moral foundations of the criminal process, the most complex relationship between law and justice, dignity and individual rights were combined in her life. “And work on the topic of justice, moral harm to a person, the principles of humanism and mercy is already in a number of philosophical categories, and it was necessary to study how these philosophical models actually work in public life, how to effectively resist evil. It is no coincidence that today such a subject as philosophy of law is taught, studying how and why the law exists, how to prevent violence against an individual. And now I’m trying to put into practice everything that I’ve developed over many years,” our guest explained.

Questions followed. Thus, 3rd year law student Marina Skotnikova inquired about ideas for further improving the work of the institution of the Commissioner for Human Rights and its participation in the legislative process. And the President of the Bar Association of the Ivanovo Region, Elena Levanyuk, asked a question regarding the prospects for changing legislation in the field of advocacy.

Tatyana Moskalkova gave detailed, detailed answers to these and other questions, drawing on her vast and unique experience. The conversation turned out to be very informative.

“In a frank conversation, I tried to convey to the guys the key idea: helping people becomes effective if you let someone else’s pain pass through you. This is the only way to understand how and with what you need to help someone who came to you in the last hope of justice and mercy. I hope I succeeded!” – noted Tatyana Moskalkova.
