«Sport is life, it is ease of movement, sport inspires respect from everyone!»

On September 20 a solemn celebration of the International University Sports Day took place at the IvSU sports complex.

It began with a filigree creative number of the guard of honor company of the Ivanovo Fire and Rescue Academy of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. Then, to the loud applause of the full hall, the teams of Ivanovo universities lined up on the sports ground, and after the performance of the anthem of the Russian Federation, the floor was given to the head of the Department of Sports of the Ivanovo Region Anton Sergeevich Lopatin. He warmly congratulated everyone on the holiday and stressed that student sports are an indicator of how effectively the entire sports system in the country works, since at this age, a constant interest in sports means a restructuring of lifestyle, a serious choice that affects the individual. A.S. Lopatin noted the increased attention of university leaders to sports life and expressed gratitude to them for their all-round assistance in the development of student sports in their organizations, despite all the workload of educational and scientific work. An example of such attention is this wonderful sports complex of IvSU.

Then the solemn rewarding of winners in various nominations began. The victory of an athlete is largely the merit of his coaches and teachers, so the first awards were received by the coaches of the winning teams in the sports of the Spartakiad of Universities of the 2021-2022 academic year. From the representatives of IvSU, the Certificate of Appreciation "Coach of Champions" was awarded to:

– Anna Alekseevna Golovkina, coach of the women's cross-country skiing team of the Shuisky branch of the Ivanovo State University;

– TRP all-around trainer, senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Culture and Life Safety of IvSU Natalya Sergeevna Mayorova.

And then the results of the Spartakiad itself were summed up: the IvSU women's team took the overall 3rd place in it, and the Ivanovo State Energy University was recognized and awarded the challenge cup for the second year in a row as the absolute winner of the team standings of men's and women's teams. Receiving the award, ISPU Rector Grigory Vasilyevich Ledukhovsky thanked the athletes and coaches of ISPU, congratulated all those present on a wonderful holiday and noted that it was sport that created a platform for communication of large groups of students, which is especially important in the future development of the Ivanovo Consortium of Universities. And that means that in the end, friendship wins!

The performance of IvSU students, masters of sports of Russia in taekwondo Anastasia Zarezina and Artem Aksenov turned out to be bright and memorable. Probably, for the athletes themselves, all these dizzying “turntables” with precise breaking and knocking out of various objects are just a part of life, but the spectacle was simply magnificent.

In the next part of the holiday, A.S. Lopatin presented the Gratitude of the Department of Sports of the Ivanovo Region to the honored teachers-mentors, thanks to whose efforts numerous achievements of student athletes became possible. From the representatives of IvSU Gratitude was awarded to:

– Cand. ped. Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture of the Shuya branch of the IvSU Gogin Alexei Borisovich;

– senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Culture and Life Safety of IvGU Safonova Elena Borisovna.

And, of course, letters of thanks from the Department of Sports of the Ivanovo Region were presented to the most successful student-athletes. Of the representatives of IvSU, Anton Kolobov became such. Then their awards - Golden TRP distinctions - were received by students who fulfilled the standards of the TRP complex at such a high level. At IvSU, these are Victoria Tsyplova and Alexei Fetistov. Also, our student Sergey Vershinin received the Silver badge of distinction.

The right to launch the Spartakiad of the Ivanovo Region among higher education institutions of the 2022–2023 academic year was granted to the Acting Rector of IvSU, Professor Olga Vladimirovna Kuzmina. Concluding the official part of the event, she joined all the warm words that were said today, and stressed that, despite the competitive nature of the event, it unites students and strengthens friendship between universities. So be it this school year!

The official part ended with a colorful sports gala parade and a brilliant performance of the anthem "Heroes of Sports" by the bass-baritone soloist of the Ivanovo State Philharmonic Artem Mayorov. And then the holiday smoothly turned into a mini-football tournament and a chess blitz.
